Hi, I'm Sheila Watkins.
I am a Personal Trainer at the Manitou pool, Aquatic & Fitness Center at Memorial Park, Country Club of Colorado, and in homes, schools and businesses. My mission statement is "I will train anyone, anywhere!"
I went to college at Oklahoma Christian University and we had to take one credit hour of P.E. I signed up for floor aerobics. I left the first class, called my parents, and told them "I know what I want to do when I grow up." They just laughed because they thought it would be something different next week. Well, it wasn't! I came back home to Canon City, CO after my freshman year. That summer I went to Denver and got certified to teach aerobics. Since that summer in 1992 I have been teaching group fitness classes. (I did graduate from OCU in 1995 with a BS degree.)
I started by teaching Step Aerobics. Then soon I taught water aerobics, toning classes, kickboxing and stretching.
I was really enjoying the classes that I was teaching but I got frustrated in the group environment because I could see that the participants needed more individual attention. I really wanted to help each individual more personally. So during the summer of 1995 I got my first personal training certificate.
Since then I have worked at the Broadmoor Hotel, Country Club of Colorado, World's Gym, Cheyenne Mountain High School, and YMCA. I have even trained individuals at school gyms or in their homes or at work (such as with Penrose Hospital employees).
I continue to teach Water Aerobics even today. But I really love the personal training. My motto is that "Everyone Needs a Personal Trainer." I even have my own trainer. In 2007 I competed in two Bodybuilding Competitions and got 1st place in the Southern Colorado Natural Novice category.
